#Headlines: "'Enos' Spinoff Picked To Be A Hit"

'Enos' Spinoff Picked To Be A Hit
The Times-News (Twin Falls, Idaho)
Friday, July 25, 1980
Sonny Shroyer, the bucolic wonder who plays deputy sheriff Enos on "The Dukes of Hazzard," 1s a worried man. He is working on his own one-hour comedy-adventure series, "Enos," and wishes people would quit speculating that it will be a success.

"Everyone in the country predicted "The Dukes of Hazzard" would be a flop," be drawls, "and it's a big hit. Now they're saying that 'Enos' is going to be a hit and I just know this will ruin it."

Shroyer, countryboy smart and backed by a bachelor of business administration from the University of Georgia, has carefully hedged his bets.

"I didn't want to get off 'The Dukes of Hazzard'," be says. "It has been a steady paycheck, and I would rather be a working actor than a broke movie star." The producers at Warner Bros, provided a guarantee: If "Enos" doesn't make it after the first 13 episodes, then Shroyer will be able to go back to his role in "Dukes."

Ed. Note — There once was a man named Enos....
