On one side, you have liberals or secular humanists who defend the mother’s sovereignty over her body, which gives her the right to abort her fetuses, especially within the first trimester (when almost all abortions are performed).
On the other, you have conservatives who style their position as being pro-life, meaning that they defend the life of the unborn fetus and contend that that right outweighs the parents’ right to choose.
The problem for the liberal’s need to have some good-faith opposition is that the conservative’s case here is just blatant sophistry.
