Operation Assassination

Operation Assassination was the name of a white paper-like document I put together in the early 1990s to collect information about the Lincoln–Kennedy assassination coincidences (what I liked to refer to as lincolnisms and kennedyms). I discovered the connections after receiving a silly Lincoln-Kennedy penny (a commemorative 1-cent piece with a small engraving of Kenndy rubbing noses with Lincoln) and soon began finding these and other similar tidbits scattered through several of the books I read.

I soon discovered Lincoln and Kenndy figured into another list: presidents elected in years ending in zero appeared to die in office.

Lincoln - this time, his ghost - figured into yet another list because there were several supposedly supernatural stories about the former president.

In the end, Operation Assassination was a double-sided, 10-point font Word file with interesting information, occasional misspellings, and a half-assed attempt at citing sources. I could easily update it when I found new information and print off a copy when I met someone else who shared this interest in—admittedly dark—presidential history.

Around 2000, I attempted to break into web publishing by creating a website. I needed something interesting to attract visitors, so I published Operation Assassination through GeoCities—at least, I tried to. First, I published the original Operation Assassination content. Then, I expanded the site with other presidential and assassination trivia. Constantly organizing (and reorganizing) the content and scope became a chore, and I soon lost all interest in this one-time hobby.

Not long ago, I found a copy of the double-sided print version of Operation Assassination, which reminded me of the backup files I retained from the HTML version. After 25 years, I've long moved on from Lincolnisms and Kennedyms, but I thought I would celebrate a one-time interest by revisiting the information and adding it here.  Enjoy!  Or laugh.  (Both?)

Operation Assassination content includes the following information:
